The Shaft Alignment Process
The shaft alignment is the process of alignment of axes within the permitted limits as required by industry standards. These axes are in a variety of machinery. Shaft alignment is a prerequisite and necessary before any machine to be put into service.
When a machine such as an electric motor or turbine is connected to a pump or a generator, or other propulsion equipment is vital that these two parts are assembled with precision. Any misalignment of the two axes can result in increased fatigue in these parts, which result in subsequent failure of equipment, which can be very expensive. Similarly, mechanical bearings or seals may need more frequent reviews to ensure they are in good condition because they are prone to damage and may need to change. A precise alignment of a shaft will prevent this problem from happening.
Production requires an efficient use of resources, so that if a piece of machinery out of service, production suffers.
There are several ways by which it is a shaft alignment. Could be mechanically or optical, as with the method of shaft alignment by laser. Axis laser alignment measurement system uses a high technology, whereby a well-trained technician, calculate and accurately aligned couplings, universal joints and straps. The accuracy of this method creates a considerable positive impact on productivity, reducing maintenance costs and improving efficiency, and therefore, increasing total production.
